"How have you been, love~?" England’s voice rang through [Name]’s head, causing her to briefly shut her eyes. He asked [Name] everyday how she was feeling, almost every time he saw her. Quite frankly, it was beginning to annoy her.
Ignoring his presence, she began to walk home. The meeting today had been especially difficult to sit through; all she wanted now was to sit down on her couch and watch some mindless TV, anything to calm her stressed mind and pounding headache.
"I’m fine, England." [Name] replied casually, not giving him the satisfaction of a more elaborate answer. His smile didn’t fade; Instead he continued to ask her his daily questions.
"What are you doing now, love?"
"Not seeing that frog Francis, right?"
"Or that bloody git Alfred?"
"Your house is here, right?"
Stunned, [Name] turned to face him. She was hoping that if she kept walking past her house, he would eventually get bored with her endless wanderings and give up. [Name] stared into his emerald green eyes, so full of life. What was about her that made him so intrigued? She felt a little guilty; she thought she had made it obvious that she wasn’t interested in him like that. Did he even realize what he was doing?
"Yes, but how did you know that?" She plastered a small smile on her face, too tired to even put up half the effort she usually would.
"Oh, It just...suits you somehow." He chuckled awkwardly. "Anyways, would you mind if I stopped in for a moment?" He waved his hand, trying to make it sound casual and sudden.
"Why not?" [Name] commented dully as she slipped her key in the lock, opened the door and stepped inside, holding the door open for him.
"Thanks, love." He replied, nodding his head slightly. Oh, how it bothered [Name] when he called her that. Of course, one day she would tell him, but how would she know what to say? He was so nice to her, holding the door open for her, buying her small treats and presents, complimenting her. How could she tell him she wasn’t interested?
"Nice place." Arthur attempted to start a conversation, snapping [Name] out of her thoughts. "The outside is quite beautiful. I was wondering if the interior design matched the exterior." He mumbled, mostly to himself. [Name]’s brow furrowed ever so slightly, but she ignored his comment and began to make some tea for the two of them, leaving him to gawk at her modest home. A few minutes later, she returned, holding a small teacup in either hand.
"England?" [Name] called, but he had seemingly disappeared. Sighing, she put down the cups and searched her house, checking every room except her bedroom. When he still hadn't turned up, she cautiously opened the door to her room. There sat the Englishman, holding something in his hand and shaking slightly.
"Arthur?" She reached out and touched his shoulder. He yanked it away and stared into her eyes, all signs of life gone. The once bright emerald green eyes were now dark and void of light.
"This...isn’t recent, is it?" He showed her the framed photograph of you and Gilbert that you kept beside your bed. It was one of your favorite pictures, the two of you smiling and holding hands. [Name] and the Prussian had indeed been going out for a few weeks; she had just never found it relevant to their conversations.
"It is. The point?" [Name] asked casually, gently taking the picture out of his hands.
"Well, this is definitely is problematic. How am I supposed to continue my plan? How could I have missed such a crucial detail?" He whispered furiously to himself. Not knowing how to react, she attempted once more to put her hand on his shoulder.
"Are you alright, Arthur?" [Name] asked. Never in her life had she seen him act this way.
"Absolutely perfect, love~" He spat, and grabbed her waist, dragging [Name] closer to him. Yelping in surprise, she landed in his lap, arms roughly around his neck.
"Absolutely perfect." He repeated, smiling down at her. The look in his eyes was no longer lifeless, but something else.
Scrambling to get up, [Name] felt her back pressed against the door. His maniacal smile didn't fade one bit as he took a step closer.
"Everyone left me all alone. Even America, who I thought actually cared for me, left me, hurt me. He hurt me, [Name], and I don’t want to be hurt again. Please understand that, [Name]...." England whispered and offered his hand to you. When you didn’t take it, finally his hand and his smile fell.
"I’m not taking no for an answer, [Name]."
