'Life without you would be like a broken pencil...pointless.'

[Name] smiled softly at the little note. Every time she would go to one of the World Summit meetings, a little piece of paper would be sitting on the table in front of her seat. She now had a small handful of said messages, ranging from 'Your beauty makes the morning sun look like the dull glimmer of the moon' to 'If beauty were time, you'd be an eternity'. The only problem was that the author of such sweet words never wrote his name.

I wonder who it is... [Name] pondered, as she looked around the clearly-packed room. Every nation had arrived by now, so it could have been anyone. There was Spain, flirting with one of the few female countries, a blond this time. Could it possibly be him? His bright green eyes shone against his tan skin, his shoulders shaking slightly as he laughed. Sure, Antonio was attractive enough, but he was a little...daft. Plus he was always with that crabby Italian, someone she didn't like very much.

Her [e/c] eyes continued to scan the room, landing on Ludwig, who's frustration with the rest of the countries was clearly showing. Germany seemed like a nice enough guy once you got to know him, but he didn't really seem to be the type to say sweet nothings, much less write them.

Feeling that someone was watching her, she slowly turned around, meeting Russia almost face to face. A small noise escaped her mouth, partially from surprise, partially from fear. She had heard stories of the many things Ivan did, seen his pipe, and noticed how the other nations behaved around him. They weren't very good friends, but she tried her hardest to be polite towards the intimidating country.

She must not have been polite enough, because he looked worried. "Are you alright, [Name]?" He gently put his gloved hand to her forehead, causing [Name] to flinch.

"J-Just fine." She murmured. He gave her a concerned look, but accepted her response and sat down in his own seat near Lithuania and the other Baltics.

[Name] shuddered involuntarily. She couldn't imagine the Russian writing her the notes either, thank goodness. He was just so scary.

"Time to start the meeting, dudes!" The young American's voice snapped her out of her daydream (or nightmare) as he stood up and walked over to his plan for "solving the world's problems". [Name] giggled; the American's goals and plans were so far-fetched it was adorable. Not to mention that he wasn't that bad looking. She smiled; if Alfred were the one writing the notes, she wouldn't really mind.

"See! [Name] agrees with me!" His voice broke through her thoughts.

I suppose this is what I get for not paying attention. Now what do I say...?

"...Yes?" She mumbled, hoping that would be the correct response.

"There's no way some hero will help global warming or humanity's enslavement." Her bright [e/c] eyes met deep emerald ones as England spoke, clearly against the American's plan. [Name] blushed and looked away; why had she just agreed to the most ridiculous thing? Why hadn't she been paying attention?

Because all I do is daydream.

She glanced at Arthur once again, and after making sure he wasn't looking at her, began to observe him. He was drinking a small cup of tea, his eyebrows scrunched together as though he were deep in thought. [Name] had always held a small fondness for the Englishman, but she tried not to dwell on it. He never appeared interested in her in the slightest, although he always acted like a perfect gentleman in her presence.

Just one of the many things I admire about him.

He looked up once again, catching [Name] in the act. His face didn't change much, he merely raised an eyebrow, questioning her actions.

"That's all for today." The German's rough voice was an excuse to look away and get out of there. [Name] had had more than enough embarrassment for one day. A pair of forest green eyes watched as she left, a sigh escaping his lips.

[Name] had a plan. If she arrived early enough to the next meeting, she might be able to  catch her secret admirer in the act! She smirked as she tiptoed into the large building.

Her footsteps echoed through the empty building, no matter how she tried to quiet them. Eventually, she gave up on being silent and simply increased her pace, practically running through the long corridors. She paused before the enormous doors that led to the meeting room, and after taking a deep breath, opened the door a crack.

Is that England...?

"No, that won't do!" He grumbled as he sat in her seat, a piece of paper in front of him as he desperately tried to come up with something. Arthur crumpled up the tiny sheet as it joined a pile of what appeared to be other failed lines.

"[Name] deserves perfection...." He muttered, his face turning red at thought. A moment later, his face lit up, as though inspiration struck, as he wrote something else on the little note.

"Arthur?" Her voice called out quietly, much quieter than she had wanted. He jumped, obviously not expecting her.

"[N-Name]!" He stood up, pieces of shredded paper littered on her seat, and another one of the anonymous notes sat centered in the midst of chaos.

"Have you been leaving these notes, England?" A soft smile played her lips as she took a small step forward. From where she stood she could see his writing on the tiny paper.

'I hope your day is as radiant as your smile.'

He sighed and looked away, running a hand through his golden-blond hair. "Yes, I see you caught me in the act." His face turned a deeper shade of red as he continued his confession. "I-I didn't know how to tell you how I felt, s-so I've been leaving these notes. Of course, they only represent a fraction of how I feel, but I had to do something." He gave her a sad smile before cleaning up her seat.

Before she could talk to him, the other nations arrived, causing [Name] and Arthur to sit in their respective seats. His eyes still contained that sadness, as though he had been rejected.

Come on meeting, just be over already! [Name] thought, even though it had only begun.

Soon enough, it was over, as she raced over to give the Englishman a peck on the cheek.

"I really liked the notes." She mumbled softly, tentatively grabbing his hand. After a few seconds, Arthur returned the affectionate gesture, interlacing his fingers with hers. "I...really like you as well." She stopped for a moment, and after seeing his usually straight-face begin to relax as his lips curved upwards, she continued. "My favorite was 'If I had a star for ever time you brightened my day, I'd have a galaxy in my hand.'

The barely-there smile immediately dropped from his face, a stern look replacing the tender one in seconds. "I never wrote that."

Confused, [Name] pulled out the notes, pulling the fraud out on top. England leaned closer to her, their shoulders touching as he inspected it for a moment. "See, the handwriting's different."

Sure enough, the fake was written in a larger, more precise font than Arthur's smaller, loopy scrawl. She wondered how she could have possibly missed that before.

"Huh." [Name] wondered, then shrugged. "Doesn't change the way I feel about you." She smiled, hoping to reassure him. He still gripped her hand, and he seemed to be alright when he flashed her a ghost of a smile. "It's one of those mysteries that's never going to be solved, I guess." She laughed quietly and began to pull him towards the door. "Let's go get lunch." They walked out of the seemingly empty building.

A pair of violet eyes watched [Name] sadly as she walked out hand in hand with the Brit as the bouquet of sunflowers fell from his hands.

EDIT: Oh my goodness you guys are amazing! I was really surprised on how you reacted to the ending; I honestly didn't think you'd feel as strongly about it as you did. Up next will be the remaining Allies [Francey-Pants first] and then Germany.

I guess you all are secretly Russia fans... :iconyayrussiaplz:

EDIT II: These comments though. :icononewithrussiaplz:
