A beautiful day. Today was a beautiful day. Yet Germany had to ruin it by ordering the countries to come together. [Name] knew that this plan should work, that ideally the world would be a perfect place if all the countries came together to discuss problems to prevent fighting. Rather, fighting was inevitable in this building.

[Name] had arrived earlier than usual, and noticed a few empty chairs among the groups of people. There was a seat next to Romano, or South Italy, but he was looking moody as his olive green eyes scanned over the room, judging the rest of the countries with a scowl. [Name] supposed the empty seat was for Spain, for he had yet to arrive and he was one of very few people who could tolerate the easily-angered Italian.

There was a seat next to China, but he appeared to be in deep thought as he looked out the nearby window. His deep amber eyes were slightly fogged over, his eyebrows scrunched together as he pondered life's many questions. [Name] didn't want to bother the Chinese man, so she continued to look.

There was Estonia, sitting nervously with a few empty chairs beside him. He was with Latvia and Lithuania, who were unfortunately seated next to the fear-inducing Russia. He grinned sweetly when he saw [Name] looking at the scene. The young woman hesitantly returned the smile as she continued to look for another seat.

At the end of the long table sat two empty chairs, with two other nations, America and France, seated nearby. That was perfect! She actually enjoyed the Frenchman's company, and who knew who would take the other empty chair?

[Name] made her way over to France, giving him a small smile and wave when she sat down on...something. Something soft and warm. [Name] gave a little squeal as she stood up, blushing like mad when she realized she had been sitting on someone's lap.

"I-I am so sorry!" She stammered, noting that the man was also blushing.

"It's alright." He murmured, a voice so quiet it was almost a whisper. He looked similar to America, with long dirty blond hair and a wonky curl sticking up in the front, striking blue eyes hidden behind glasses, and a similar build. That was about where their similarities ended. This man was wearing a brown suit and clutching what appeared to be a small bear. His personality also appeared to be much shyer than the American's.

"I-It's okay. I'm invisible." The man muttered sadly, looking down. [Name] had a sudden realization: She had heard quite a few rumors of the invisible country of Canada showing up to meetings now and then [in reality, he came to all of them, but wasn't always noticed]; could this possibly him?

"Really?" She questioned, leaning forward slightly. If he truly was invisible, that was so cool! He seemed so sad about it though; why would he be sad if he had such a cool superpower? Unless he was always invisible. Then how could she see him right now?

"C-Can you see me?" He asked her, leaning forward as the sadness in his tone disappeared.

"Yes." [Name] giggled. She wondered if this was another cheesy line, but it seemed as though he truly went unnoticed by all of the other countries in the room. No one else seemed to pay any attention to their conversation, certainly not America as he laughed at the visibly-upset Britain.

"Say it, Canada! Mon ami, say the line!" France appeared to be able to see Canada as he desperately whispered in the Canadian's ear, winking and sending suggestive smiles in [Name]'s direction. Unable to understand what the Frenchman and the Canadian were getting at, [Name] merely sat there, observing the two with her [e/c] eyes.

"H-How about tomorrow night?"

It took [Name] a few minutes to put the pieces together. It was a pickup line, something she wasn't quite expecting from the soft-spoken nation. She stared at his tomato-red face, his tongue nervously swiping his lips as his French mentor laughed good-heartedly next to him.

[Name] stared at him for a moment, before she began to laugh. Not the usual "laughter like the tinkling of bells" either. It was unladylike, as England would put it. After a few seconds of awkward high-pitch noises, she wiped away the tears that had formed in her eyes and took a seat next to the flustered Canadian.

"I like you."

After the meeting and some pleasant conversation with the Canadian, she agreed to visit him in his country tomorrow night (to stick with the pickup line he had used). So after a few difficult hours of deciding what to wear and how to style her hair, [Name] was off to visit the unknown, otherwise known as Canada.

"H-Hello, [Name]." Canada opened the door for her, red-faced and stuttering already. The young woman smiled; half to reassure the stressed Canadian and half because he was just so darn cute.

"Hey~!" She greeted him warmly, stepping inside his lovely house. It was nothing grand or incredibly ornate, but the inside held a decor that held both warmth and a homely vibe. [Name] already adored it.

"Your house really is quite lovely. I can only imagine that the rest of your country is like this, too." [Name] smiled at him, sitting on the sofa near the fireplace, pulling a maple-print blanket around her petite shoulders. "It's a little cold." She admitted, attempting to warm herself.

The Canadian's face darkened at the compliment; it was easily the nicest thing anyone had ever said to him. He sat down next to the young female, blue eyes desperately searching [e/c] hues- he had no idea what to do next.

"W-Would you like some hot chocolate? I-I can go make some." He offered, standing up abruptly as his eyes remained on [Name]'s face.

"That would be lovely." She thanked him, watching him shuffle to his kitchen, trying to prepare the best hot chocolate he possibly could. As the water began to boil, he noticed the absence of his animal companion, Kumapiko. Or something like that.

Still sitting on the couch, [Name] watched as a tiny little white bear calmly entered the room and sat on the couch beside her.

"Who are you?" She cooed, running her fingers through the soft fur on the top of his head.

"I'm Kumajirou." The bear replied, causing [Name] to jump.

"You can talk?!" She asked it, her voice raised a few octaves. A response was unexpected, but she mentally slapping herself. Of course it can talk; it obviously just answered her, and now she seemed rude.

Despite first impressions, they began a pleasant conversation. They talked about the chilling whether, snow, maple syrup, anything that popped into their minds. It turned out the little bear was just as nice and kind as his apparent owner, even if he was a little forgetful.

"I brought back your hot choco- M-Maple!" The Canadian returned, only to freeze and stare in your direction. She were still cuddling with Kumajirou, frowning a little as she noticed his pupils dilate. Was he really that unaccustomed to people? Or was it the fact she was a woman?

"What?" [Name] asked, a little irritated. She absolutely adored his personality and attitude, his stuttering and blushing was cute in her eyes. Now he was just plain standing there and staring at her. A little rude in her opinion.

"G-Giant polar bear!"

"Matthew." [Name] sighed, looking at him with what she hoped was a kind expression. "I don't need another pick up line. I'm here, aren't I?" She gave him an encouraging smile, hoping he would relax a little. "Besides, that's an icebreaker, and we've already-"

"N-No [Name]! T-THERE'S A GIANT POLAR BEAR BEHIND YOU."

Suddenly she could feel hot breath on the back of her neck, far too much to be human. It smelled of fish and animal blood, that and something rotting, all mixed up to create the grotesque smell of wild animal breath. [Name] felt her body go rigid, realizing that there was indeed, something behind her. She was terrified to turn around, but slowly, very slowly, she inched her body so she was face to face with indeed, a giant polar bear.

She began to shake, not really sure what she could do. Canada didn't have a large house, so at most she could only take a few steps backwards. Canada himself didn't pose a threat to the bear as he stood there, also shaking. [Name] barely noticed Kumajirou sliding from her lap, standing between her and the large creature. The tiny bear's black eyes stared up, almost twinkling as he faced the beast.
